I LOVE Linux and I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron on my Dell Inspiron 1420 (came with Windows Vista Home Premium). The Dell Ubuntu version has some extra tweaks, and I was wondering if I would get those if I reinstalled Ubuntu with a Dell Inspiron 1420n Ubuntu Reinstall DIsc. Is this possible?

I don’t know, but will you lose anything by trying?

  • If i play latest games like FIFA 09 or Crysis, it comes very sloaw and gets struck. I am not able to continue playing. Do i need to upgrade my RAM or Graphics Card or a tweak is sufficient

    The Answer by Mercuri :

If you have an 8400M graphics card, you have a laptop or an all-in-one desktop and CANNOT upgrade your video card. 2GBs of RAM isn’t bad either. I’m curious as to what kind of CPU you have though, as your computer should be able to run some games (just keep the graphic details to low and you should be ok).

    The Answer by Wowie[Micromind] :

There are many things which might cause your USB devices to become undetected.

But since you said that everything work fine until you made some changes in your BIOS, you should try enabling USB devices on your BIOS.
