I am planning on building computers and selling them as a side job. I was thinking of first installing either windows 98, or 2000 onto the computer when I was finished putting all the parts together. Then I would use a USB internet card to go online and download Ubuntu operating system for free. Ubuntu is a form of Linux operating system, and therfore not as popular as Windows or Mac operating systems. I was wondering if I could buy a Vista or XP operating system disc, and somehow installing the operating system onto multiple computers with only that one disc. I have searched the internet and found sites about XP service packs that allow you to install XP on multiple systems, but have seen more sites that have reassured me that installing XP or Vista onto multiple computers is impossible.

Please help me if you can.

You need to buy licenses. If something happens to their computer, they will have no CD to repair Windows with or anything.

A computer with Ubuntu? good luck selling that. But to make it easier for you incase you decide to go that route… You only need a ISO CD of Ubuntu then just install it on the PC… No need to install Windows 2000, download Ubuntu, then figure out how to install it.

  • I installed an upgrade to my computer for windows and it seemed to work…However, after a day or so my cd recorder stopped working and I cannot burn CD's however, I can still use it to listen to music or install certain programs. I was told that my drivers from windows XP and Vista are criss crossing. I tried to put the Vista upgrade to re-install it doing a full install instead of an overwrite however, when I put the CD in the drive it starts setup and then stay on a "please wait" screen forever and does not change. I was given the advice to do the install through DOS. If it can be done can someone give me some pointers on how this can be done. I really want to get my computer to work. Help!!!

Make sure you drivers are correct if you are doing a dual boot. Remember Vista does not support a variety of hardware.

The Message means that it's trying to read you CD.

Also check to see if the CD you are having problems with is actually good as far a media. If you can install and listen to music then it's not likely you drive but more so media.

ok step1 right click on your desktop then theme, step 2 when it pops up where it shiws modified theme (or windows vista or whatever one your using) click on it and it will show a list of ones, click browse, step 3 look for the theme file and open it, then after click ok and then restart your computer and it should work!

Note: The theme file must be a .theme type!
