So I can't just type in my xp key
In the past with an XP Pro or Home upgrade version you could install by using the Upgrade disk. During the installation process the setup program will ask you to insert a "qualifying Operating System disk" such as Win98, WinME, or Windows 2000. With the Vista upgrade you actually have to have the operating system that you want to upgrade installed first. However you can just install the Vista Upgrade disk twice and it will work.

I'm planning on building a brand new computer and I don't know which one to buy: the upgrade or full thing. Im planning on getting Vista Ultimate. I also looked on newegg.com and saw a product that said Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit for system builders for 199.99. I'm building a system, so is that the one I should buy or the full one that costs 400 bucks? Thanks in advance.
upgrade == you must have a valid serial for a previous version of windows [2000 or XP]. the 199 is OEM. so if you dont mind not having the manuel [that you can get online free]. it's worth saving the 200 bucks
my logic tells me no manuel is worth 200 bucks. period. [unless it's a gun]

Hi there,
I am planning to buy a new desktop tomorrow, and I will most likely install on it Windows Vista Home Premieum edition.
Can anyone tell me what is the best hardware to put together for this?
Also, disregarding the vista installation, could anyone tell me what is the best or very good spec for a desktop these days?
A detailed spec list would be more helpful.
Cheers
Lucky you. I want a new one too. I don't have enough knowledge about it. Sorry.
